(Youth Development Camp Instilling Bharathiya Rich Culture and Heritage)

Yuva Sanskriti, a Youth Development Camp aimed at instilling Bharathiya culture, values, and heritage among school students, was conducted from 21st to 23rd August 2026 at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore–20. A total of 168 students from 14 schools participated in the camp.
Day-1 (21.08.2026)
The students arrived on the campus on the evening of 21st August 2026. Upon their arrival, an orientation session was conducted to familiarise them with the objectives and schedule of the camp. Subsequently, accommodation was arranged separately at Swami Saradananda Illam and the SRMVCAS SF Campus.
The inauguration ceremony of three-day camp was held at 7.00 pm. Revered Swami Garishthananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions presided over the function. Revered Swami Harinathananda Maharaj, In-charge, SRMVCAS (SF) graced the occasion with his esteemed presence and guidance. The programme commenced with Arathi and Prayer.
Dr. R. Jayaprakash, Principal, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, delivered the welcome address. He emphasised the need and importance of attending the youth camp, which focuses on India’s rich traditions and culture.
Revered Swami Harinathananda Maharaj, In-charge, SRMVCAS (SF), delivered the inaugural address, in which he highlighted the motto and objectives of organising the camp. He emphasised the need to bring out the inner strength and potential of every individual as the main objective of the camp.
Dr. K. Kandappan, Secretary, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, delivered the special address, stressing the importance of youth camps in fostering character, discipline, self-confidence, and leadership qualities among higher secondary students.
Dr. D. Rajakumar, Assistant Professor of Tamil and Coordinator of the camp, outlined the programme schedule and activities planned for the three-day camp.
Dr. R. Sridhar, Director of SRMV CAS (SF), in his keynote address, outlined the activities planned for students pursuing Computer Science. Dr. A. Balagurusamy, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce, explained the activities designed for Commerce students. Dr. G. Raja, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, presented the activities planned for students pursuing Pure Science.
Dr. M. Jaikumar, Associate Professor and Head, BCA and Coordinator of the camp proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Dr. M. Jaikumar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of BCA, SRMVCAS, conducted the first session at 8.45 p.m. on “Awareness of Cyber Crimes”. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding personal information and advised students not to share sensitive details with unknown callers. He also created awareness about various forms of digital fraud and the precautions to be taken against them. This was followed by a session on “Mobile Hacking”, handled by Dr. M. Chandran, Associate Professor, Department of MCA, who provided students with valuable insights into mobile security and hacking.
Day-2 (22.08.2026)
The second day's program began with aerobics and yoga sessions. The students were divided into two groups: one group received aerobics training, while the other received yoga training from 6.30 a.m. to 7.15 a.m. The sessions were conducted by the faculty members of the Department of Physical Education.
The students attended Prayer at Sri Ramakrishna Temple in the morning from 8.15 a.m. to 8.30 a.m.
The students were divided into three groups based on their major subjects studied at the higher secondary level: Pure Science, Computer Science, and Commerce. The groups consisted of 39 students from Pure Science, 68 students from Computer Science, and 64 students from Commerce. Based on these groups, the forenoon sessions were conducted simultaneously from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as follows:
Dr. M. Jaikumar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of BCA, SRMVCAS, in his interactive session on “Personality Development” focused on leadership, communication, and soft skills.
“The Career Path” session for the students was conducted by Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, SRMVCAS (SF). The session focused on counselling and guiding the students about the various higher education opportunities available in their respective fields of study.
As part of the Edumela programme, various events and activities were conducted based on the students’ respective groups. Three events were organized for the Pure Science students. In Mathematics, an event on “Roots of a Polynomial” was conducted. In Physics, students received hands-on training in identifying and using laboratory instruments. In Chemistry, students were trained in the identification of salts and distinguishing between basic and neutral solutions.
For the Commerce students, “Error Identification and Problem Solving” and “Business Brain Waves” programmes were conducted.For the Computer Science students, “Write-off Code” event was organized. Prizes were awarded to the students who secured first three places in each event.
The Speaker selection for the debate was conducted in the afternoon between 1.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m., in which all the students were given the opportunity to speak. Based on the performance, 12 students were selected for the debate followed by a visit to Natchatra Vanam and an Exhibition of Indian Freedom struggle.
Games aimed at strengthening the body and mind were conducted by the faculty members of the Department of Physical Education, Health Education and Sports, SRMVCAS, in the evening from 4.15 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
The students attended the bhajan session at the G.K.D. Auditorium from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Dr. M. Jaikumar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of BCA, SRMVCAS, handled the session on “Gratitude Wall” during 7.00 p.m. and 7.30 p.m., where he highlighted the importance of expressing gratitude in every walk of life. He also stressed the importance of social responsibility and humanity through relevant examples.
The day concluded with a debate held from 8.30 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. on the topic “Enathu Alaipesi, Enathu Latchiyathirku Nanbane! Ethiriye!” judged by Dr. M. Jaikumar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of BCA, SRMVCAS.
Day-3 (23.08.2026)
The third day's program started at 6:30 a.m. Like the previous day, the students were divided into two batches. The students who had participated in the aerobics session on the previous day received yoga training, while those who had attended the yoga session were trained in aerobics conducted by the faculty members of the Department of Physical Education. The students of the Department of Physical Education demonstrated the Mallakhamb event.
Session - 1(9.00 a.m. – 9.45 a.m.): Revered Swami Harivratananda Maharaj, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya delivered a special address on “Swami Vivekananda for Today’s Youth.” In his address, he highlighted the significant role of youth in nation-building, as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda. He also emphasized the influence of Swami Vivekananda’s ideas on great leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore, which inspired their strong sense of nationalism and dedication to the nation.
Session - 2(9.45 a.m. – 10.30 a.m.): Dr. T. Thangamani, Assistant Professor of Physical Education, SRMV Maruthi College of Physical Education, delivered a talk on “Positive Psychology.” He emphasized the importance of cultivating qualities such as gratitude, patience, and leadership skills in developing a positive mindset and fostering overall personal growth.
Session - 3(11.00 a.m. – 11.45 a.m.): The session on “Say No to Drugs” was handled by Sri. S. Vignesh, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, SRMVCAS. He sensitized the students to the dangers of drug abuse and created awareness about its causes and harmful effects through informative videos. He also highlighted how drug abuse can adversely affect an individual’s physical and mental well-being and tarnish the reputation in society.
Session - 4(11.45 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.): Revered Swami Harinathananda Maharaj, In-charge, SRMVCAS (SF), delivered a special address on “Role of Youth in Developing the Nation”. Swamiji emphasized the importance of personal growth and self-discipline as essential qualities for individual development, which, in turn, contribute significantly to the progress and development of the nation.
Session – 5(2.15 p.m. – 3.00 p.m.): Feedback session by the students.The students shared positive feedback about the career guidance session, campus infrastructure, and hospitality. They also expressed their gratitude for being given the opportunity to speak and share their views for the first time in the stage.
Session - 6(3.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m.): The Valedictory function began with a welcome address by Dr. R. Jayaprakash, Principal, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. Revered Swami Tadbhasananda Maharaj, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, delivered the Valedictory address, emphasizing the importance of human values and the development of good character to achieve success in the life.
Dr. K. Kandappan, Secretary, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, delivered the special address where he appreciated the students for their discipline, active participation, and cooperation throughout the camp. Participation certificates were distributed to the students who attended the camp, followed by a photo session. Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, SRMV CAS (SF), proposed the Vote of Thanks.
