Anti-Drug Club of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education have organized six programmes with the objective of creating a Drug-Free Tamil Nadu in between 31.07.2026 to 16.09.2026
Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme titled “Say No to Drugs – Say Yes to Life” on 31.07.2026 at 11.30 a.m. in the Seminar Hall. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, responsible, and drug-free lifestyle. The programme commenced with a Welcome Address delivered by Sri. K. Thiyagarajan, B.P.Ed. II Year student, who warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, faculty members, volunteers, and students gathered for the programme. The Chief Guest, Dr. A. Jayaraman, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, was formally introduced by Mr. C. Ramkumar, B.P.Ed. II Year student, who presented a brief profile of the guest and highlighted his academic and social service contributions.
Swami Virahananda Maharaj felicitated and honoured the Chief Guest as a mark of appreciation for his valuable presence and contribution to the programme. Dr. A. Jayaraman delivered an inspiring Anti-Drug Awareness Speech on the theme “Healthy Youth – Drug-Free Nation.” In his address, he emphasized the harmful impact of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. He highlighted the importance of self-discipline, positive peer relationships, healthy habits, sports participation, education, and social responsibility in preventing drug abuse. He also encouraged students to become responsible ambassadors for creating a drug-free society and a healthier nation.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by S. Dinakaran, B.P.Ed. II Year student, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, Swami Virahananda Maharaj, faculty members, organizers, student volunteers, and all the participants for their valuable support and contribution towards the successful conduct of the programme.
The programme created meaningful awareness among the students and reinforced the message that youth should stay away from drugs and make positive choices for a healthy and successful future. A total of 67 B.P.Ed II NSS Volunteers and 2 faculty participated in the programme.
Anti-Drug Awareness Street Play
Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education (SRMV MCPE), with the active involvement of its Teacher Trainees, organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme through a Street Play on 5th August 2026 at Kamarajar Nagar, Periyanaickenpalayam Panchayat. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free lifestyle.
The Teacher Trainees presented an informative and impactful street play highlighting the dangers associated with drug and substance abuse. Through realistic situations, dialogues, and awareness messages, the participants explained how drug addiction can adversely affect an individual's physical health, mental well-being, education, family relationships, and future prospects. The performance emphasized that drug abuse not only harms individuals but also creates negative consequences for families and society.
The street play attracted the attention of the local residents and provided an effective platform for communicating the anti-drug message in a simple and understandable manner. The Teacher Trainees interacted with the public and emphasized the importance of making healthy choices, developing positive habits, engaging in regular physical activity, and seeking support when facing difficulties.
The programme also focused on the responsibility of students and young people in preventing drug abuse. The participants encouraged the public to stay away from addictive substances and to create awareness among their friends, family members, and community. The central message of the programme was “Say No to Drugs and Yes to Life.”

Anti-Drug Awareness Pledge Programme
Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education, through its National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Pledge Programme on 06.08.2026. NSS student volunteers, along with faculty members, actively participated in the programme and took the pledge to stay away from drugs and to create awareness among others about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
The programme highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. Good physical and mental health is essential for students to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals. Regular physical activity, nutritious food, adequate sleep, positive relationships, and healthy recreational activities contribute to overall well-being. Students were encouraged to develop healthy habits and make responsible choices for a better future.
The participants were also sensitized to the dangerous effects of drug abuse. Drug use can adversely affect physical health, mental well-being, academic performance, family relationships, and social life. It may lead to poor concentration, loss of self-control, health problems, and difficulties in personal and professional life. Drug abuse can also negatively influence young people and prevent them from realizing their full potential.
The anti-drug pledge emphasized the responsibility of every student to “Say No to Drugs and Say Yes to Life.” The NSS volunteers pledged to remain drug-free, discourage others from using drugs, and spread awareness about the importance of a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
The programme served as a meaningful reminder that health is a valuable asset and prevention is better than cure. The active participation of NSS volunteers and faculty members demonstrated their collective commitment to building a healthy, drug-free society and a brighter future for the younger generation. A total of 264 students and 11 faculty participated in the programme.
Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign
Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education (SRMV MCPE), through its National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign on 7th August 2026 at Periyanaickenpalayam Railway Station. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among the general public, particularly young people, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of maintaining a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
A total of 67 NSS student volunteers and 2 faculty members actively participated in the awareness campaign. The students prepared and displayed a variety of anti-drug awareness posters highlighting the dangers associated with drug use and the importance of staying away from addictive substances. The posters conveyed clear and meaningful messages encouraging people to lead healthy, disciplined, and drug-free lives.
As part of the campaign, the NSS volunteers interacted with passengers and members of the public at the railway station. The students explained the physical, psychological, social, and educational consequences of drug abuse and emphasized the importance of making positive choices in life. They also encouraged the public to spread awareness among their family members, friends, and community and to support efforts towards creating a drug-free society.
The campaign provided an opportunity for the student volunteers to actively engage with the community and understand their responsibility as young citizens. Their direct interaction with the public helped communicate the message of “Say No to Drugs – Say Yes to Life” in an effective and meaningful manner.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from the NSS volunteers to continue creating awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to promote health, fitness, positive values, and responsible citizenship. The Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign at Periyanaickenpalayam Railway Station was a valuable community outreach initiative that contributed to strengthening public awareness and encouraging a healthier, safer, and drug-free society.
Mass Anti-Drug Awareness Pledge Programme
Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education (SRMV MCPE) organized a Mass Anti-Drug Awareness Pledge Programme on 11th August 2026 with the active participation of the Teacher Trainees. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among young people about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging them to lead healthy, disciplined, and responsible lives.
As part of the programme, the Teacher Trainees collectively took the Anti-Drug Awareness Pledge, affirming their commitment to stay away from drugs and to create awareness among others about the dangers of substance abuse. The pledge emphasized the importance of maintaining good physical and mental health, developing positive habits, and taking responsible decisions for a better future.
The programme also featured a live Anti-Drug Awareness programme telecast in front of the Teacher Trainees, which provided an opportunity for the participants to witness and understand the importance of collective action against drug abuse. The presentation highlighted the harmful consequences of drug addiction on physical health, mental well-being, education, family life, and society. It also emphasized the importance of prevention, awareness, and timely guidance for young people.
The programme was graced by Sri M. Kanagasabapathy, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Periyanaickenpalayam Sub-Division Police Station, who took part in the awareness programme. His participation added significance to the event and reinforced the importance of cooperation between educational institutions and law-enforcement agencies in preventing drug abuse and protecting the younger generation.
The gathering was welcomed by Dr. T. Jayabal, Principal, SRMV MCPE, who highlighted the need for students and Teacher Trainees to remain aware of the risks associated with drug abuse and to promote healthy lifestyles. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. A. Needhiraja, Assistant Professor-cum-NSS Programme Officer, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, and Teacher Trainees for their active participation.
The Mass Anti-Drug Awareness Pledge Programme was a meaningful initiative that strengthened the commitment of the Teacher Trainees towards a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society. The programme effectively conveyed the message: “Say No to Drugs – Say Yes to Life.” . A total of 265 students and 20 faculty participated in the programme.
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – NSS Nodal Officer’s Training Programme
Dr.Needhiraja, Assistant Professor and NSS Programme Officer attended Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan NSS Nodal Officer's Training Programme organised by Coimbatore District Child Protection Unit on 16.09.2026 held at District Collectorate, Coimbatore.
