Storytelling Competition for the students of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Schools at the GKD Auditorium, Coimbatore, on September 3, 2026.
The competition was conducted in three categories: I - Classes IV & V, II - Classes VI & VII, and III - Classes VIII & IX. The competition brochure was circulated to the schools on August 17. The preliminary round was conducted at the respective schools on August 31, in which 319 students participated. Based on their performance, 30 students were selected for the final round.
Thirty topics based on the life and significant events of Sri Krishna were selected for the final competition. The programme commenced at 9.30 a.m. with a prayer song rendered by Sri Amarnathvenkatraman, Music Teacher, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education. Dr. R. Annad, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, delivered the introductory speech.
A panel of six academicians and Tamil scholars served as judges. Dr. S. Gurugnanambika, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, Avinashilingam Institute of Home Science and Higher Education for Women, along with Dr. R. Annad, Dr. R. Gokul and Dr. R. Abimanyu Assistant Professors of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, and research scholars Ms. Vekatalakshmi and Ms. Srinithi, evaluated the participants.
Dr. K. Sathikumar, P.G. Teacher, Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School, served as the Master of Ceremony.
The programme was witnessed by Swami Garisthanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya; Swami Tadbhasananda, Assistant Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya; and Swami Harivratananda, Secretary, TAT Kalanilayam Middle School. Around 400 students from Vidyalaya schools attended the event as audience members.
At the conclusion of the competition, Dr. S. Gurugnanambika delivered the judges' review. Dr. S. Sivasankar, Competition Coordinator and Director of Physical Education, announced the category-wise results and proposed the vote of thanks.
The competition aimed to develop students' storytelling, communication, confidence, creativity and stage presentation skills, while creating awareness about the life and values of Sri Krishna. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
