Swami shivananda sports school
It is a our almost fully residential special school meant to nurture sports talent from an early age. The Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu (SDAT) conducts selection trails, first at district levels and then at the State level, to identify young boys who have natural talent for sports. In our sports school, boys are trained everyday under specialized coaches, both in the morning and evening. The basic objective of the sports school is to encourage talented boys to take sports as a career and, in the long run, bring up the medal prospects of our country. Sports also helps them secure a job as an appointment player or to advance their educational career through seats reserved under sports quota for higher studies The boys of the sports school attend regular school during the day, and are extra help in studies in the hostel as well. The boys are provided free lodging and board in the hostel. Their sports uniform and equipment are supplied out of Government's grant and from Vidyalaya's funds. As a part of training, boys are sent to a number of tournaments in the district, State and National level competitions. In its more than two decades of existence, this school has trained a number of players and athletes who later have represented India in both junior and senior levels. Moreover, this school is unique for its discipline and academic results.
Highlights
Basketball, volleyball and athletics training are given.
Food, kits, sports uniforms and equipments are provided out of Government grants and Vidyalaya's contribution.
