         Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore
, is a major educational centre of the well-known Ramakrishna Mission. It is 19 kms from Coimbatore City on the highway to Ootacamund,and is situated in a serene environment spread over about 300 acres. The Institution was founded by Sri T S Avinashilingam in 1930 with an investment of just Rs. 5.75 and with one harijan boy on its roll.

Town Center

Started in the year 1994 mainly for the benefit of the people of the Coimbatore City, this cultural centre is situated about 12 kms from the Vidyalaya on the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam highway. It conducts daily vesper services, weekly discourses, bhajans and occasional seminars for students and teachers. At present about 40 poor children are given free tuition daily in the evening in their academic subjects. Members of the Balaka Sangha are taught about our country's values and cultural heritage. A Ramakrishna-Vivekananda and Vedanta-literature sales section and a small lending library also function at this Centre.
