COMMUNITY POLYTECHNIC SCHEME

      Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya was founded in the year 1930 by former Minister for Education, Govt. of Madras Presidency, Thiru T.S. Avinashilingam with one harijan boy as its first student. Polytechnic was started in the year 1956, offering 3 year Engineering Diploma Courses for regular students. This institution is managed by Ramakrishna Mission Belur, Calcutta.
Diploma courses offered are: 

    • Diploma in Civil Engineering
    • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
    • Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
    • Diploma in Information Technology

The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, evolved the Scheme of Community Polytechnics in the year 1978. We have implemented the scheme in Tamilnadu, Kerala and Karnataka state, covering 15 districts.
Aim of the scheme:

  1. To bring an overall development in the villages.
  2. To promote all the government schemes among the villagers.
  3. To promote all the government schemes among the villagers.

Objectives:
            To provide a Community Institute interface so that Science & Technology inputs can be transferred to the community through skills training, technology transfers and organization of support services.
The major operational activities of the scheme:

  1. To ascertain the felt need of the community through techno – economic social       survey, job potential survey, etc.
  2. To become focal points for technology transfer.
  3. To train youth, women and other disadvantaged groups in employable skills.
