NATIONAL BOCCE COACHING CAMP AND TOURNAMENT
Our college organized the Special Olympics National BOCCE Coaching Camp from 13.01.2007 to 15.01.2007 at our college campus. 270 Athletes and escorts participated from 10 states (24 teams) in the coaching camp and tournament.
In the inaugural function Smt. Vanitha Mohan, Executive Director, PRICOL was the chief guest who hoisted the Special Olympics flag and took the salute of the athletes. Air Marshell Denzil Keelor, Chairman, Special Olympics, Bharath lighted the “Flame of Hope” Mr. Victorvaz, National Sports Director, Special Olympics, Bharat briefed the game of BOCCE. Swami Atmaramanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya declared the meet open.
On 15.01.2007 in the Valedictory Function Swami Atmaramanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya and Sri V. Venugopal, General Manager, Lakshmi Machine Works, Coimbatore distributed the prizes. Dr. M.S. Nagarajan, Honorary Dean, Faculty of Physical Education, Movement Science and Yoga Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University distributed the certificates and also declared the National BOCCE coaching camp closed.
NATIONAL YOUTH DAY
On 10.01.2007, National Youth Day (Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday) was celebrated. In this connection a college students rally was organised at Sri Saraswathi Vidyalaya Matriculation High School, Karamadai at 2.30 pm. Rev. Swami Atmaramanandaji Maharaj presided over the function. Sri A. Somasundaram, Managing Director, Sankar & Co, Mettupalayam was the Chief Guest and Sri G.P. Arumugam, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Perianaickenpalayam Range Flagged off the youth rally. Around 1000 students from 9 institutions participated in the rally.
