  • Thiru C Manimaran, District Disabled Rehabilation Officer, Krishnagiri Dist, an alumnus of our College of Arts and Science, was awarded the Best District Disabled Rehabilation Officer by the Government of Tamilnadu on 61st Independence Day. He did his Ph.D (PT) in social service from our College.

Vocational training to school students - a new initiative:

The Vidyalaya management has launched an innovative program "Day-to-day Vocational Skills" in engineering trades to IXth and XIth standard students of our Swami Shivananda Hr. Sec. School. In a simple function, on 00.07.2008, Swami Nirmaleshananda presided the iaugural function. Sri V Arthikaran, Properitor, Har Precision Works, Coimbatore was the special guest and Sri L Sivasamy, Assistant Director, District Employment Exchange, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest.

Every year, all the fresh students of the Vidyalaya take part in a special function known as " Vidyarthi Homa" and take appropriate vows conducive to life of a student as per Indian tradition. 540 freshers admitted to different institutions of the Vidyalaya in post-matric courses, celebrated the Vidyarathi Homa on 15.08.2008.

Celebration
  • Around 1500 students representing various institutions of the Vidyalaya celebrated the 61 Independence Day celebrations on 15.8.2008 with enthsiasm. Swami Atmaramanandaji Maharaj hoisted the national flag and delivered an address. Sri Rajiv Kumar, Deputy Commandant, and Sri Rajan Agarwal, Inspector, of Central Reserve Police Force, acted as judges to select the best marching contingent award. This year, the College of Arts and Science won the rolling trophy by scoring 42 points out of 50.

Activities of the Faculty of General & Adapted Physical Education and Yoga:
  • National Institute Empowerment for persons with multiple disabilities organized a regional meet for persons with Multiple Disability on 3rd to 6th June 2008 at Chennai. The Hon. Dean Dr. M.S. Nagarajan acted as Meet Director and Sri R. Giridharan & Sri S. Kalidasan, Lecturers, were the Technical Committee Members.
  • The Faculty had initiated Unified Play Day programe at the TAT Kalanilyam School on 11.08.08. Mrs S Akila, Lecturer of our faculty, conducted pre-test in physical, psychological and social parameter to assess the special students of the school.

  • Sri A Abdul Hakkim, II DME, and Sri S Logeswaran, I DEEE, emerged winners in the IPAA Divisional Level Chess Tournament held at the Christ the King Polytechnic College on 7.8.08 and 8.8.08.

  • On 13.08.08, Kaveri Polytechnic College, Salem, organized a National Level Technical Symposium in which 30 papers were presented by students representing 25 polytechnice. Our students Sri P Raguraman & Sri B Moahankumar of III DIT won the 1st prize and a cash award of Rs. 400/- for their paper “Loopholes in Windows”.
